Based on Home - SeamlessHR and inspired by Kevin Powell - Can I create this tricky orbiting icon animation?

I watched an interesting YouTube video of Kevin Powell recreating SeamlessHR's home page animation using only CSS. I decided to give this a go myself and adapt it slightly to accommodate a variable number of orbitals.
